Avenio (white-red & grey-red trams)

Twee HTM trams rijden trams achter elkaar

Since 2015, HTM has been operating 70 city trams of the Avenio type in The Hague and the region.

The Avenio is a modern low-floor tram that is more accessible for passengers using an (electric) wheelchair or walker and people with prams. The tram features the latest technological developments and is built by Siemens in Vienna. This type of tram is more modern, quieter and also more sustainable. With it, HTM responds to the needs of today's travellers.

The Avenio comes in white/red and grey/red colours and is part of the Randstad public transport network (R-net). Because this city tram is wider and longer, the stops have also been adapted. The height of the stops is the same as the low floor of this tram, making travelling by public transport in The Hague even more attractive.

In the Avenio tram, the tram driver sits in an enclosed cabin. This allows the driver to fully focus on driving safely and on time. All trams are equipped with ticket vending machines.

These trams operate on the route of tram 2, 9, 11, 15, 16 and 17.

All HTM Avenio trams have:

  • A wide ground-level entrance
  • Benches in 2 Toes
  • 4 wide entry doors
  • 1 space for wheelchairs, rollators and/or prams
  • A ticket machine
  • If you travel in a wheelchair or mobility scooter, please also read the information on travelling with a disability.
  • 6 information screens showing the route, stops and final destination.
