From 1 January 2023, the Hague Hopper will drive you between the centre of The Hague and Benoordenhout. This 8-seater bus runs on demand, not following a fixed route but with fixed stops. Choose where you get on and off, other travellers can also get on and off along the way.

What is the Haagse Hopper?

The Hague Hopper is an 8-seater bus that runs flexible public transport whenever you want. The van runs between Benoordenhout and the centre of The Hague. Via the Ride Pingo app, you book where you want to get on and off; there is no fixed timetable. Other people can get on and off along the way.

How do I use the Haagse Hopper?

1. Book a ride via the Ride Pingo app or by phone on 0900 9281 (€1.00 per call).
2. Go to the stop you indicated in the reservation and pay for the ride to the driver. A ride costs €1.50. Please note that payment can only be made by bank card.
3. Get on the bus and be taken to the stop of your choice.

How do I use the Ride Pingo app?

1. Download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
2. Create an account in the app and log in
3. Enter the final destination. Using your location, the app searches for a ride with the nearest departure stop.
4. The offered ride tells you what time you will be picked up at the stop.
5. Go to the departure stop. The bus will come for you at the indicated time. Please note that the time may change slightly.
6. Show your ticket number to the driver and buy your ticket.

Can I cancel my account?

Yes, you can.
1. Go to the menu bar at the top left of the app.
2. Click View profile and click Delete Account.
3. The account is now deleted.

Who is the Haagse Hopper for?

The Haagse Hopper is for anyone who wants to travel by public transport. You do not have to become a member or apply for permission from the municipality to do so.

The Haagse Hopper is an 8-seater bus, recognisable by the HTM style and the Haagse Hopper logo.

How do I book a ride?

Book a ride via the Ride Pingo app or by phone on 0900 9281 (€1.00 per call)
1. Download the app via the Google Play Store or from the Apple Store.
2. Create an account in the app and log in

Can I book a ride in advance?

You can book a ride one hour in advance. Half an hour before departure, you will see the final pick-up time in the Ride Pingo app.

This is how you plan a booked ride in advance:

  1. Enter the final destination. Using your location, the app searches for a ride with the nearest departure stop.
  2. Tap the clock icon on the right, next to Request ride.
  3. Choose the desired Departure time and tap Confirm.
  4. The ride offered tells you what time you will be picked up at the stop.
Why do I need to book my ride in advance?

The Haagse Hopper is designed to book a ride at short notice. The bus will come to the chosen stop as soon as possible.

Can I board without a reservation?

No, this is not possible. Due to the limited number of seats, it is important to book in advance. In the app, you will see the fastest option to depart from this stop.

What are the Haagse Hopper's Departure times?

The Haage Hopper does not have fixed Departure times. Through the app, you reserve a seat on the bus. The bus comes to the stop at the time indicated in the Ride Pingo app.

When does the Haagse Hopper run?

The Haagse Hopper runs on weekdays from 07:00 - 21:00 and on Saturdays and public holidays from 12:00 - 24:00.*
* With the exception of public holidays, the Haagse Hopper does not ride on Sundays,

Where can I go with the Haagse Hopper?
Is the Haagse Hopper wheelchair accessible?

The Haagse Hopper is not wheelchair accessible. If you travel by wheelchair or mobility scooter, you can use Regiotaxi Haaglanden or AV070.

How can I see where my bus is/stays?

In the Ride Pingo app, you follow the bus in real time. You can also see here what the expected arrival time of the bus is.

From what age are children allowed to travel independently on the Haagse Hopper?

The Haagse Hopper is for everyone, there is no minimum age for independently travelling children. Please note: As a parent/carer, you remain responsible for your travelling child. For example, the driver does not check whether the seat belts are fastened or when someone needs to disembark.

Do I also need to make reservations for children travelling on my lap?

All Haagse Hopper passengers have to have their own ticket, regardless of the children's age and whether they have their own seat on the bus.

Children up to 2 years old may sit on parents' laps during the ride, but a seat must always be kept free for the child.

Is wearing a seat belt mandatory?

Certainly, Haagse Hopper passengers are required to wear a seat belt. The exception to this are children up to 3 years old who sit on parents' laps.

How much does the Haagse Hopper cost?

A regular ticket for the Haagse Hopper costs € 1,50.

Please note: when booking (in the app or by phone), please indicate the type of ticket you want to purchase. If you travel with a special fair, please be able to identify yourself.

 

* This ticket is only for the companion, the passenger is also required to buy a ticket.

Where do I buy a ticket for the Haagse Hopper?

Book your ride via the Ride Pingo app. Buy your ticket from the driver in the vehicle. Please note that payment can only be made with a bank card.

Can I use my Haagse Hopper ticket to travel with other HTM transport?

No, this is not possible. The Haagse Hopper ticket is only valid for the Haagse Hopper.

Can I use my OV-chipkaart to travel in the Haagse Hopper?

No, this is not possible. Buy your Haagse Hopper ticket in the vehicle.

Can I use my 2-hour ticket, (children's) day ticket, 3-day ticket or season ticket in the Haagse Hopper?

No, this is not possible. Buy your Haagse Hopper ticket in the vehicle.

Can I buy a ticket at the HTM Service Shops or in the HTM Ticketapp?

No, this is not possible. Buy your Haagse Hopper ticket in the vehicle.

If something goes wrong

I am not offered a ride as a travel option, now what?

If no travel options are offered, all seats in the Haagse Hopper are reserved for the desired time. Please try again later.

I have booked a ride but am late at the stop.

The driver will wait for a maximum of 1 minute at the stop. If you are not present at the stop, the reservation will expire and the bus will continue its journey.

Can i cancel my ride?

You can cancel via cancellation button in the Ride Pingo app or by calling 0900 9282.

The Ride Pingo app is not working, now what?
