Discounts for children, students and travelers over 65
Are you 65+ or younger than 12? Then you are entitled to travel with a 34% age discount on all buses, trams and metros in the Netherlands. You always had this possibility with the personal OV-chipkaart, and now also when traveling with your debit (or credit) card.
As a student you can also use the student travel product. We list the different discounts for you.

Now also available on debit cards
If you have a personal OV-chipkaart, you automatically get 34% discount on your fare. So you travel extra cheaply with the tram and bus. No personal OV-chipkaart yet? Apply for it immediately.
To make use of the age discount when traveling with your debit card, you must first register your debit card.

34% discount for children 4 to 11 years old
Now also available on debit cards
Children also travel extra cheaply with HTM. Children up to 3 years of age travel free, of course together with a paying adult. Children aged 4 to 11 years apply an age discount of 34% on the fare.
This also requires a personal OV-chipkaart. After purchase, the discount is automatically settled with each ride. No personal OV-chipkaart yet? Apply for it immediately.

Free travel with the student travel product
Available for weekly or weekend subscription
MBO, HBO and University students can use the student travel product. With this, students travel by public transport free of charge. This can be done with a Week or Weekend subscription.
